La Grande Muraille verte (GMV) est un projet initié par l'union africaine, qui a débuté en 2008 et qui ambitionne de reboiser une bande de 15 km de large sur 7 600 km de long : du Sénégal à Djibouti.
En plus de lutter concrètement contre les changements globaux, la GMV engendre une amélioration des biodiversités végétale et animale, de la santé humaine, et permet un développement économique, offrant un avenir à la jeunesse sahélienne.
Plus qu'un projet environnemental, c'est un projet de paix.

The Great Green Wall (GGW) is a project initiated by the African Union, which began in 2008 and aims to reforest a strip 15 km wide and 7,600 km long: from Senegal to Djibouti.
As well as taking concrete action against global change, the GMV is improving plant and animal biodiversity as well as human health, and enabling economic development, offering a future to sahelian youth.
More than an environmental project, it's a peace project.
